Gene Parsons is an American musician best known for his work as a drummer and guitarist in the band The Byrds in the late 60s and early 70s, as well as his contributions to the country and bluegrass music scenes.
As a guitarist, Parsons is known for his use of the B-Bender, a guitar modification that allows the player to simulate the sound of a pedal steel guitar by bending the B-string using a lever attached to the guitar's strap.
Parsons is credited with popularizing the B-Bender and has used it on many of his recordings, including his solo albums "Kindling" and "Melodies," as well as with The Byrds and other projects he has been a part of.
In addition to his musical career, Parsons is also known for his work in the aviation industry as a pilot and inventor. He created the StringBender, a similar device to the B-Bender, which is used by many musicians today. Parsons continues to perform and record music and has been inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame.
